Lick-Wilmerding is a co-educational high school that is best known for the breadth of its head, heart and hands curriculum; the economic, racial, cultural and ethnic diversity of its student body; and its unpretentious, supportive and stimulating atmosphere. In addition to the rigorous college preparatory program, Lick requires extensive work in wood, metal and glass shops and in drafting and design.

Step 1: Request an Application
Current 8th graders who are interested in learning more about Lick-Wilmerding High School should request an application packet. At this time, L-W is not accepting transfer applications for the Fall of 2008.
Step 2: Schedule a Campus “Shadow” Visit (optional)
Contact the Admissions Office by phone or email us after September 1, 2008 to schedule an appointment. Visits are scheduled from October through December, Tuesday through Friday, either from 8:00-10:30am or 11:30am-2:00pm. 8th graders will have the opportunity to visit one academic class, receive a tour of the campus and participate in an “information session” with a member of the Admissions team.
Step 3: RSVP for an Open House (optional)
Complete the Open House RSVP postcard found in your application packet and send it to the Admissions Office. Sorry, we do not accept phone or email reservations.
Step 4: Register and Take a Standardized Test
L-W accepts the SSAT (www.ssat.org) or ISEE (www.erbtest.org) test scores.
Step 5: Submit Part I: Parent/Guardian Application
Courtesy deadline is December 1, 2008. The final deadline for submission is January 15, 2009 at 3:00pm. Click here to complete and submit Part I online.
Step 6: Submit Part II: Student Application
Final deadline for submission is January 15, 2009 at 3:00pm. To print out Part II of the L-W application, check out the ‘Downloads’ section below.
Step 7: Schedule a Student Interview – January 10 or January 24, 2009
Members of our Admissions Committee will conduct 30-minute interviews with all student applicants. Two students will be interviewed simultaneously. The interview will be informal and conversational, so no preparation is necessary! Interviews are scheduled after Part I: Parent/Guardian Application and the application fee is received.
Step 8: Submit Principal/Counselor, English, and Math Teacher Recommendations
Recommendation forms are to be completed by your counselor/principal, and 8th grade Math and English teachers. Be courteous by attaching a stamped, addressed envelope and give it the forms to them by November 1 so they have plenty of time to be thoughtful and complete the recommendations. The forms and the envelopes must be signed and sealed by your teacher Your teachers should send the recommendations directly to our Admissions Office by January 15, 2009. Step 9: Submit an Official Transcript
Your parent/guardian must complete the Transcript Release Form and deliver it to your school’s counselor/registrar to have your 7th and 8th grade transcript and standardized test scores (i.e. SAT9, Iowa, ERB, STAR, etc.) sent to our Admissions Office by January 15, 2009. If your 8th grade fall semester or trimester grades will not be completed by then, ask your school’s registrar to send them to our Admissions Office as soon as they are ready.
