1. APPLICATION FORM: All four pages of the application form must be completed and returned to the Director of Admission accompanied by a non-refundable application/testing fee of $100. Checks should be made payable to Crane Country Day School. Our application deadline is February 14, 2008. When listing names of teachers for recommendations, please make sure that one is your child’s current teacher. Please attach two recent photos of your child to the application.
①2. APPOINTMENT: Please call the Admissions Office at 969-7732 x105 or x127 to schedule the parent tour and interview. During the tour, you will learn about Crane’s philosophy and programs and have an opportunity to provide us with information about your child. We will also review our admissions policies with you and answer any questions you may have. Allow at least 90 minutes for this appointment, and please bring your calendar so that subsequent testing and student
interview dates can be scheduled. Children do not accompany the parent at this time.
(If you are the parent of a current Crane student or the parent of a child whose file has been reactivated, please allow approximately 30 minutes for the meeting.)
â‘ 3. TESTING: All Kindergarten applicants will be given the Gesell Developmental Assessment. This assessment will be administered on the Crane campus by an experienced educational
consultant. This developmental test will assist us in determining your child’s readiness for the Crane Kindergarten program. The assessment takes 20 to 30 minutes and is scheduled throughout the months of January and February.
â‘ 4. SATURDAY GROUP OBSERVATION: This one hour observation is required for all applicants. During this informal group observation, the Kindergarten teachers will be evaluating how your child relates to a new environment, new peers, and new adults. The session includes some
assessment of fine and gross motor skills, as well as pre-reading and pre-math skills. Parents of the children are required to stay on campus for the duration of the observation. Parents will meet in a separate location with the Head of School and the Admissions Director for an information session with an opportunity to ask questions. You may choose Saturday, February 2 at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., or 1:00 p.m. or Saturday, February 23 at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., or 1:00 p.m.
We will be available to discuss the results of the Gesell Developmental Assessment and/or the Saturday group observation with you any time after April 14. Please call the
Admissions Office at 969-7732 x105 or x127 to schedule an appointment.
â‘ 5. MEETING OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL: Choose from December 7, January 11, or February 22 to attend a one hour (9:00 - 10:00 a.m.) informal gathering to meet our Head of School. These optional meetings have limited space available. Please call the Admissions Office to reserve a space.
①6. GETTING TO KNOW THE TEACHERS: Please mark your calendars for Sunday, February 10, 2008, the date of Crane’s Annual Open House. This is your opportunity to meet informally with Crane teachers and become acquainted with the Crane community. Walk through the classrooms and be sure to introduce yourself to our Kindergarten teachers, Nancy Carey and Bridget Matson. This is your chance to ask them any specific questions about their program.
